Berwin is the trade name of Jakub Winkler — an independent practice based in Polepy, a small village just east of Prague. Running continuously since 2004.
The day-to-day is split three ways. Ruby on Rails web applications — long-lived business software, registration systems, invoicing, internal tools. Custom hardware — embedded controllers, sensors, the small electronics that bridge physical things to clean web interfaces. And the IT services that keep small and mid-size businesses running — networks, surveillance, cloud workplace, and the devices in between.
Long client relationships, careful upgrades, and infrastructure that is still working a decade after it was first deployed.

What I do
Embedded hardware
Custom electronics for the projects that need a physical layer. Microcontroller firmware, sensor integrations, small-batch boards, and the glue that connects them to web back-ends.
IT services & infrastructure
Quiet, reliable IT for small and mid-size businesses. Network design (mostly Ubiquiti Unifi), end-to-end CCTV projects from layout to long-term support, cloud workplace administration on Office 365 and Google Workspace, plus macOS and Synology support and careful hardware sourcing.
